G. Mennen "Soapy" Williams, governor of Michigan, will deliver a Littauer Lecture on "The Role of the States Within the Federal System" today at 3 p.m. in the Littauer Auditorium.
Williams, who was elected last fall to an unprecedented fifth consecutive term, yesterday visited Massachusetts Governor Foster Furcolo, also a Democrat, and spoke briefly before the Massachusetts House.
In an interview with the CRIMSON, the Michigan governor was noncommittal over rumors that he might run for the Senate next year against incumbent Charles Potter, a Republican.
Williams, who is a member of the Advisory Group to the Democratic National Committee, said that the new group was "a very important adjunct to the Democratic Party," and would "provide a sound forum for leadership in the Party."
