The Harvard freshman swimmers meet an undefeated Yale team today in the I.A.B. The Yardlings must be rated an underdog by virtue of their one loss to Williston Academy, which Yale defeated; but time records indicate that the score will be close.
The Elis' top man is its captain, Foster DeJesus, who has swum the 100-yard freestyle in 53.0 seconds. Peter Lusk has recorded Yale's best time, 23.6 seconds, in the 50-yard freestyle.
Harvard's William Boeckler has bettered both these marks with 52.6 in the 100 and 23.4 in the 50. In the 200-yard backstroke, Gary Pildner, holder of the Yardling record, is favored.
The dive and the relays, however, constitute Yale's main strength. The Blue beat Williston in the dive; the Crimson did not. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Yale clocked 3:45.0 against Princeton last Saturday, whereas Harvard's best time is 3:46.1.
Yardling Five Underdogs
The freshman basketball team will be a distinct underdog when it concludes its season against Yale at 6:30 this evening.
The Yardlings have an overall record of 5-9, marked by a win over Brown and a loss to Dartmouth in their only Ivy contests. But although Yale lost to Princeton, it beat Andover, which had no great trouble in defeating Harvard. Yale has also beaten perenially strong Holy Cross team.
Furthermore, the Freshman, like the varsity, are handicapped by lack of height, but they do not have enough speed to compensate. Lanny Keyes, the teams tallest and best rebounder, is only 6-5 which is close to Yale's average.
Keye's team-mates will be Captain Dave Scott and Dave Gayer at forwards and Dave Peterson and Mike Donahue at guards. Donahue is the team's high
