The CRIMSON will open its annual spring competition at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday nights in the CRIMSON building at 14 Plympton St.
Places are open on all boards--News, Business, Editorial, and Photography--for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. The competition will probably last about eight or ten weeks, depending on the calibre of the candidates.
Candidates with the proverbial "nose for news" will be especially welcome on the News Board. Anyone who is interested in writing, meeting people, covering sports, or simply learning more about the University will find a home here. Freshmen and sophomores are particularly needed.
$100,000 a Year
The Business Board offers training in the operation of a $100,000 a year business. During his competition, the candidate will learn the mechanics of selling, advertising, and publishing. In addition, special projects such as the Career Guide offer invaluable business experience.
The Editorial Board offers training in argumentation on national, local, and university topics, and in the reviewing of plays, movies, and books. Art and music critics are especially needed, but Gov majors are always welcome.
A wide range of equipment makes the photo board an ideal training ground for camera fanciers. Experience can be gained in elementary and advanced dark-room technique, use of press cameras and electronic speedlighting, portraiture, and photo-engraving. If you have no press camera of your own, the CRIMSON will supply one. No previous experience is necessary.
