Tomorrow night Harvard's vastly improved basketball team opens a crucial two-game home stand which will do much to determine the quintet's final league standing. A last place Cornell five will furnish the opposition at 8 p.m. in the Blockhouse.

The Crimson currently boasts an 8-7 season's record, but has only a 3-5 mark in Ivy contests. Victory tomorrow night, and against Pennsylvania Saturday would already give the team a better league mark than a year ago, when it had only three wins in 14 games, and put it in firm contention for fifth place.

Currently, Dartmouth and Yale are battling for first place, and Princeton and Columbia for third. The Crimson's last three games are two against Yale, and one against Dartmouth, while its other remaining game, after this decisive week-end, is at Princeton. Thus, if any ground is to be gained, it must be done against the only two remaining weak opponents.

In its first game with the Big Red, in mid-December, the varsity eked out a 45-44 decision in the last minute of play, as forward Dick Woolston treated his home town rooters to a fine last minute clutch performance.

Besides Woolston, center Ike Canty, former guard Bob Hastings, and the two new key guards in the lineup, George Harrington and Bob Barnett, will start.
