Harris Claims Eisenhower's School Request "Inadequate"

Seymour E. Harris '20, professor of Economics, recently branded President Eisenhower's school construction program as "inadequate." Eisenhower has recommended that Congress appropriate $2 billion over a four-year period.

Speaking at the convention of the American Association of School Administrators, Harris also charged that the Administration was reluctant to provide sufficient funds and came up with its limited program only under pressure. He urged that the government provide school support of $600 million a year now and increase this amount in the future.
