The varsity basketball team will have its new starting alignment tested for the first time tonight when it faces the superior height of a veteran Princeton five at 8:30 in the I.A.B.

Coach Floyd Wilson will use Bob Hastings, normally a guard, normally a guard, at a forward position, as he did Wednesday against Boston College, in an effort to have the maximum scoring strength on the court at once.

George Harrington 5-7' and Bob Barnett 6' will play the guards and Captain Ike Canty and leading scorer Dick Woolston will open at their customary center and forward positions, respectively.

This five, which worked so effectively in the B.C. contest, will face a definite disadvantage off the backboards tonight, however, since four of Princeton's starting five are as tall or taller than the varsity's tallest player, Canty.

Princeton's five is a veteran lineup, with only one addition to last year's team. And the newcomer, Carl Belz, a 6-4 forward, is both the leading scorer and leading rebounder. He has averaged 16 points per game and 13.7 rebounds. Three other members of this heady aggregation have tallied in the double figures. Center Dave Fulcomer, at 6-6 the tallest player on the team, is slightly ahead of guard Ken Mac Kenzie in total scoring, with captain Don Davidson not far behind. Fulcomer last year led the league in rebounding, and compiled a 14.1 scoring average. The fifth member of the first team, and only man below 6-3, is 5-10 guard Fred Perkins.

Princeton is currently in second place in the League race, with a 6-1 record, following a win over Brown last night. The Tigers handily defeated Harvard twice last year, and are counting on a repeat if they are to seriously threaten for League laurels.

But the varsity should put up tougher opposition tonight. One year ago yesterday the Tigers overwhelmed the varsity, 93-46. This time Harvard will play before a friendly crowd, where the team has won three out of four, and has a better all-around team.

Guard Dave Hurley still cannot play at full strength, because of an ankle injury, but the rest of the team is in good shape. Munk Muncaster, who lost his post in the new starting lineup, will be ready to play if Princeton's height proves too damaging.

Canty and Woolston have averaged 11 and 12 points apiece, and are usually consistent athletes. Barnett is the play maker and defensive man on this team. If they can manage to overcome their sole disadvantage, Crimson fans can expect a close game tonight.
