New Lights Installed In Sanders Theatre

New television and lighting facilities in Sanders Theater will enable WGBHTV to present six live Boston Symphony Orchestra concerts this year. In addition, the station plans to televise the forthcoming Godkin lectures by ex-President Conant.

Through a new control room, cables, and a microwave link installed atop Memorial Hall tower, TV programs can now originate from Sanders. New lighting equipment consisting of eight 1,000-watt and twelve 2,000-watt units provide "a considerable increase in intensity," according to Henry Muller, deputy Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.

The BSO made its decision to use Sanders this year in part, because of these improvements, David W. Bailey '21, secretary of the Corporation said yesterday. He expressed the hope that the new facilities will attract many more features in the future.
