Rhodes Scholar and First Marshal Cliff F. Thompson will lead the Class of 1956 into Sever Quadrangle at 10:30 a.m. for the traditional Class Day exercises, the graduates' farewell to Harvard College.

Seniors will assemble in the Yard at 10 a.m. to march in double procession to the quadrangle behind Sever Hall. The Band will provide music for the ceremonies, featuring speeches and poems by members of the graduating class. The exercises will be open to the public.

Thompson, former president of the CRIMSON, will be aided by Second Marshal and 1955 football captain William M. Meigs, of Adams and Syracuse, and Third Marshal and track captain Arthur G. Siler, of Winthrop and Orinda, Calif. Siler is also a Rhodes Scholar.

Following a prayer by Rev. George A. Buttrick, Preacher to the University, Toby Citrin of Leverett and Birmingham, Mich., will deliver the Class Oration. Greely S. Curtis, Jr., of Dunster and Cambridge, will read his Class Poem, and CRIMSON editorial cartoonist David Royce, of Lowell and Cambridge, will give the Ivy Oration, a humorous address.

Thomas B. Williams '34 will present the Ames Awards, for "self-reliance, character, and leadership" to two outstanding Seniors. The award was established in memory of Richard Glover Ames '34 and Henry R. Ames '38, two brothers who died in a sailing accident in 1935.

Francis W. Hatch '19, president of the Alumni Association and Paul P. Swett, Jr., '32, president of the Associated Harvard Clubs, will welcome the Seniors to the Alumni. Thompson will present the Senior Colors to a representative of the Class of 1959.

The Class, under the direction of Chorister Timothy B. Cogan, of Lowell and New York City, will sing the Class Ode, written by Fletcher Hodges III, of Eliot and Pittsburgh. Dr. Buttrick will close the ceremonies with a benediction.

In the event of rain, the Class Day exercises will be held in New Lecture Hall.

The ceremonies were planned by the three Marshals as well as the Class Committee, including:

David C. Baum of Winthrop and Highland Park, I11.; Clinton K.L. Ching of Dunster and Honolulu; Warren K. Cooper of Cambridge; and David M. Dorsen of Lowell and New York City.

Also, Lindsay D. Fischer of Leverett and Colorado Springs; Vincent R. Larson, of Adams and Minot, N.D.; James M. Murphy of Eliot and New York City; and Kenneth Rossano of Kirkland and East Meadow, N.Y.
