Ruth V. Cook (right), retiring after 36 years as librarian of the Design School, examines the itinerary for a round-the-world tour on which Design School alumni are sending her. Presented with close to $2,400 at a reception in Fogg Museum yesterday, Miss Cook was "speechless with surprise and pleasure," and said she would need some time to decide exactly where to go on her trip.
Jose Luis Sert, Dean of the Graduate School of Design (left), and James L. Harris (center), Secretary of the Alumni Association, joined Reginald R. Isaacs, Charles Dyer Norton Professor of Regional Planning, in presenting Miss Cook with Hawaiian leis, a trunk labeled with stickers, and this graphic itinerary.
Isaacs, who originated the idea of sending Miss Cook around the world, expressed the appreciation of the alumni for her "fine job" and described some of the changes which have taken place in the school while Miss Cook has been there, including formation of the school from three separate departments and the first admission of women.
