Ben Shahn, a leading United States painter, will be the University's Charles Eliot Norton Professor of Poetry during 1956-57.
The lecturer, whose works have received acclaim abroad, did painting and photography for the Farm Security Administration during the thirties and for the Office of War Information during World War II.
