The ambassador of Viet Nam, Tran Van Chuong, will speak on American-Vietnamese relations in Harkness Commons at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon at the Harvard Law School's "Coffee Hour," open to all students.
Chuong has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice President of the Ministerial Cabinet in the late 1940's. His son-in-law is a brother of Premier Ngo Dinh Diem. He started his career as a lawyer in Hanoi and Saignon and subsequently served under the French as Councilor of the Franco-Vietnamese Court of Cassation.
Chuong will discuss the forthcoming elections of a Vietnamese National Assembly and the East-West talks scheduled to be held in Geneva next July.
The ambassador's speech will be sponsored by the Law School's "Coffee Hour" Committee, which arranges informal talks by visiting celebrities in any field from jazz to international law. Chuong will give his principal address Tuesday night at the annual banquet of the Harvard Law School Record.
