Winthrop House has received a collection of more than a dozen portraits of the Winthrop family on a 25-year loan, Ronald M. Ferry, Master of Winthrop House announced yesterday.
Robert Winthrop '26 arranged for the loan of the collection which will hang in various parts of the House.
Among the portraits is one of John Winthrop, first governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony and one of the two John Winthrops after whom the house is named. Other members of the family represented in the collection are Adam Winthrop, Fitz-John Winthrop, Thomas Charles Winthrop, John Still Winthrop, and Robert Winthrop.
