Defending champion San Francisco, Iowa, Southern Methodist, and Temple moved into the semi-final round of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. The Dons defeated a tough Utah team 92-77 for its 53rd straight victory. SMU eliminated Oklahoma City, 84-63, while Iowa jolted Kentucky 89-77. In the other quarter-final game, Temple edged Canisius 60-58.
In the semi-finals, which will be held Thursday night at Evanston, I11., USF will go against Southern Methodist and Iowa will face Temple. The winners will clash in the finals on Friday night.
