Syracuse Quintet To Face Crimson At I.A.B. Tonight

The inconsistent Crimson basketball team will face Syracuse, probably the toughest opponent on its schedule, in the Blockhouse at 8:30 tonight. The fast-breaking Orange quintet has compiled a ten wins, four losses record this year, and is favored to hand Floyd Wilson's five its eighth loss against six victories.

Ike Canty, Bob Hastings, Phil Haughey, Dick Hurley, and Bill Riggs will start for the home team as it tries to bounce back after Friday's loss to Brown. About the most encouraging statistic about the game is that Syracuse only managed to edge Cornell, 96 to 94, in overtime last Wednesday, while the Crimson topped the Big Red handily in their opening Ivy game.

The men to watch on this Orange team, beaten by Canisius, Holy Cross, and twice by La Salle, are high scorer Vince Cohen, a 6' 1" forward, Jim Brown, also an All-America halfback, and Gary Clark, a top-flight rebounder and defensive player.

On the face of it, Syracuse looks too strong for the Crimson, but upset victories over Cornell and Penn have shown that this year's varsity is nothing if not unpredictable. Shooting of about the sort that defeated Penn would be a prerequisite for a Crimson win tonight, as well as a tight defense that can manage to slow down the Orange.
