Radcliffe's Student Government Association voted unanimously yesterday to support the Harvard Student Council's proposal for an extended mid-year vacation.
The SGA decided to go along with the Harvard Council in recommending to the Administration a three-day cut, at minimum, in the spring reading period with a corresponding increase in the inter-term recess.
There was almost no support for lengthening the Thanksgiving vacation. Most SGA members felt that the Administration's lax policy on granting cuts for classes Thanksgiving weekend makes it unnecessary to establish an official recess at this time.
An alternate suggestion to begin the fall term earlier instead of cutting the reading period was rejected primarily because it would involve major revision of the school calendar.
Moving the entire fall term schedule ahead by a few days would necessitate changing the dates of Christmas vacation in order to insure at least two weeks for fall reading period.
