Varsity Sextet to Face Weak Tufts Team Tomorrow

The varsity hockey team faces another mid-week breather tomorrow, a tune-up for the important final game of the season against Boston College on Saturday. A Tufts sextet that was badly beaten (13-3) by the Crimson in December will play a 4 p.m. game at the Watson Rink.

Saturday's game with B.C. has gained increasing significace now that two Eagle stars, defenseman Don Fox and center Jim Tiernan, are unable to play. Tiernan has a bad shoulder that may be ready for action Saturday, but Fox is on academic probation for the rest of the season. A Crimson victory could conceivably keep it in contention for a Colorado bid.

After losing to Brown last week, 6 to 1, the Tufts record is a poor 3-8, with the wins coming over second-rate opposition like Holy Cross.

The junior varsity hockey team plays its sixth game of the season tonight against the Boston College freshmen at 7 p.m. at the Watson Rink. The jayvees won their second game Saturday by defeating Princeton, 5 to 3, on third-period goals by John Hamlen and Dave Holmes.
