Brown, the annual threat for the Ivy League Hockey title, virtually dropped out of contention of the 1956 Championship last Saturday as the varsity sextet scored a fast 3 to 1 win over the Bruins before 1900 in the Rhode Island Auditorium.
It was the Crimson's second win over the Brown sextet this year.
Paced by the return of Bob McVey to full-time duty on the forward line, the team was able to solve its bothersome defensive problem against the Bruins by shifting Dan Ullyot back to the blue line for the entire game.
Centering the first three lines alternately with Bob Cleary, McVey was high scorer in the match with one goal and an assist. His tally, which came on a pass from Lyle Guttu, tied the score in the first period after Brown had netted a crowd-pleasing goal at 0:12 to open the game.
Summers Scores
Wing Pete Summers scored the deciding point at 11:53 of the second stanza with an assist from McVey. Bob Cleary clinched the varsity's fourth straight Ivy League victory this season with a solo tally coming from behind the Brown cage in the third period at 15:48.
The win, the Crimson's twenty-third consecutive game in League competition with only one loss, again brought its overall season's record above the .500 mark with nine victories and eight defeats.
The Crimson will face Williams on Tuesday at the Watson Rink and then will enter its final Ivy League stretch beginning against Princeton in New Jersey next Saturday.
