Freshman Sextet Triumphs, 8-1; Yardling 'B' Squash Team Wins

A powerful but disorganized freshman hockey team scored five goals in the third period and defeated a strong Arlington High School sextet Saturday, 8 to 1.

Pete Rient led the Yardlings with three goals, while Mike Graney scored two, both in the last period. The freshmen dominated play throughout the game, but passing was inaccurate in the first two periods.

Right wing Ken Woodworth started the game with a goal 36 seconds after play began, but the freshman linemen failed to penetrate the Arlington defense for the rest of the period.

After Rient scored his first goal, in the second frame, center Dick Kalil, with two Crimson players off the ice on penalties, took the puck at his own blue line and skated through the Arlington defense to register the third Yardling tally.

In the third period the freshman forwards finally organized an effective attack, and both Rient and Graney scored two goals. Herb Lewis added the final Crimson score four minutes before the game's end.
