The Crimson eleven went through a closed practice yesterday, which included a 25-minute scrimmage. Coach Lloyd Jordan was impressed with the team's defensive work, especially the guard play of Captain Ted Metropoulos, Woody Harris, and Hal Anderson. He said he was still undecided as to which of the last two to start along with Metropoulos.
High scorer Walt Stahura did not work out, and Ron Eikenberry only practiced lightly. Nat Dodge and Marsh Levin worked out at left halfback.
Reports from New Haven indicate that the Elis have been stiffening up their drill sessions in preparation for the Harvard game. Instead of the usual Monday blackboard session, Jordan Oliver ran his men through a long, hard drill.
Fullback Steve Ackerman and guard Howie Phelan have not participated in contract work in recent practices, but they will definitely be ready by Saturday.
The Blue, which was ranked sixteenth in the latest United Press poll, though not even in the top twenty of the Associated Press poll, rates as a 14 and one half-point favorite according to latest quotations.
Of the 72 games between the rivals, Harvard has won 24, Yale has won 41, and 7 were ties.
