Winthrop clinched the House soccer championship yesterday with a 3-0 win over Lowell.
John Fisher scored in the first half on a pass from Bill Stone. In the second half, Stone tallied unassisted, and Fisher headed in the final Puritan score on a pass from Bob Keller.
The Bellboys had moved to within one point of tying for first place Thursday as they beat Adams, and a victory yesterday would have given them the title. Kirkland finished in third place.
In football, Kirkland still holds a thin one-point edge over Winthrop, but the Puritans could win the league by a victory over seventh-place Dunster Tuesday.
Winthrop and Kirkland are also tied for first place in touch football, with perfect 6-0 records. The two will battle for first place Tuesday afternoon. Adams will finish third with four wins and two losses for the season.
Champions in all three leagues will next weekend. Yale's Saybrook College play the Yale inter-college champions will probably place first in football and Berkeley has already captured the soccer crown.
