A powerful Princeton freshman football team overpowered the Crimson eleven last Saturday, 20 to 0. Halfback Bob Milling scored two touchdowns for the Tigers.
Poor defensive play in the secondary was the Yardlings' chief weakness as Princeton passed with effectiveness throughout the game. "We dissipated our offense on fumbles and penalties," Coach Bob Margarita commented, "but there wasn't much we could do with so many of our backs injured."
Chet Boulris, triple-threat halfback for the Yardlings, and end Harold Keohane were out with injuries and did not even make the trip to Princeton. The Crimson line, however, held well most of the game and twice stopped the Tigers inside the three yard line.
The winless Crimson JV football team dropped another at Princeton Saturday, 19 to 6. The lone Crimson score was tallied by fullback Tony Marlow, while Princeton tailback George Maye accounted for all three Tiger touchdowns. Marlow's score came early in the first quarter on a 22-yard sweep around end. A few plays later, Maye evened the score on a four-yard dash. A Crimson attempt to regain the lead on Bob Foster's field goal try from the 35-yard line as the first half ended was unsuccessful.
Maye put the Tigers ahead on a 38-yard run in the third period, and passed to Ken Lernert for the final Princeton score.
The JV eleven meets Brown in Providence Friday.
