Varsity, Yardling Harriers Meet U. of Mass. Runners Tomorrow

Redmen's Strength Unknown

No one seems to know much about the University of Massachusetts cross country team, the undefeated varsity's next opponent. The two teams meet tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. on the Franklin Park course.

Second-hand intelligence shows the Redman beat Williams, 17 to 38, which is a strong cross country showing. However, since no one knows much about the strength of Williams, little can be gleaned from this.

Judging from last year's performances, top men for the senior-less UMass team are juniors Lee Chisholm and Tom Flynn, and sophomores Don Madara and Erik Dahl. The two juniors placed high in the New England Championships last fall, while Dahl defeated Jim Schlaeppi, last year's number one Yardling, when the two met as freshmen. Madara finished second against Williams.

The varsity will line up the same as it has in its two previous wins, except that sophomore Larry Lavers has earned a spot in the top twelve by his good showing against Providence.

At 3:30 p.m., the undefeated Yardlings will meet a UMass freshman team of unknown quality. Ed Martin also will be seeking his third consecutive victory, but his best time so far this season is a half-minute off B.U.'s George Terry's freshman record of 14 minutes, 31 seconds.
