The Department of Athletics has awarded Carroll F. Getchell, its business manager, a major "B".
Gotchell has directed the shift of his offices from the Union basement to 60 Boylston St., and took part in the change which converted the old H.A.A. into a department of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
For being the "managers' manager," for balancing ticket receipts vs. athletic expenses, and for all of the above, Getchell became the first person to be honored with an honorary letter without specific association with a sport. He joins, among other honorary letter winners, Bobby Jones (golf), Dick Harlow (football), Tom Bolles (crew), and Dick Button (skating).
