Only blue skies and dry fields for the next few days can restore order to the intramural athletic program. April showers which have turned into May drizzles have thrown the House athletic schedule into confusion.
Adolph W. Samborski '25, director of the Intramural Athletic Program, sat home last night and looked to the weather man for help. "If skies stay clear," he said, "I hope to clear up the disorder by the end of the week."
"The rain these last few weeks has completely disrupted the schedule, he explained. For 17 straight days in April rain clouds hovered over Cambridge and spilled on the soggy would-be intramural games. Toward the end of the month, out of respect for the Spring Festival, the skies cleared, and the sun has come out occasionally since then.
But May's sometimes fair weather has not been consistent enough to clear up the House standings. "Teams still have so many games to make up that it is impossible to figure out where they now stand," Samborski moaned.
The intramural spring season, which opened on April 20, should be two thirds complete by now. The House athletic schedule shows that teams should have met in 20 softball and tennis contests, while playing 16 golf matches. Not even Samborski could say how many have been completed.
