To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
We wish to mention two important facts omitted in the publicity given Monday's special Student Council meetings by the CRIMSON.
First, all Student Council meetings have been, and will always continue to be open to the student body. These meetings are regularly hold in PBH. Secondly, students who attend these meetings are permitted and encouraged to participate in discussion of regular items of business on the agenda, as well as given the opportunity to initiate Council projects as new business. Thus, the only things special about the meeting were (a) the increased publicity it received, and (b) the place in which it was held (one of the Houses).
It was the expressed purpose of this meeting to give interested students a first-hand view of the Council in order to stimulate informed criticism. As always, it was an opportunity for students to directly influence Council projects by their own participation in them.
We consider it unfortunate that more students do not take advantage of this opportunity. However, the Council shall continue its efforts (including another special meeting next fall), in the direction of a broader base of participants in its various activities, without resorting to noise-making, but with hopes for quiet, steady progress. Richard L. Dodds President, Student Council
