St. Peter's Wins Tourney Debate; College Teams End in Lower Ten

St. Peter's College of Jersey City, N.J. took first debate honors in the forensic tournament held here this weekend. M.I.T. finished second.

The College entered two freshman teams, each of whom won two out of five matches. This score placed them within the lower ten colleges in the tournament.

Due to bad weather, only 15 out of the scheduled 18 colleges were able to appear at the tourney, according to George M. Fredrickson '56, president of the varsity Debate Council.

Dartmouth placed first in impromptu speaking, and Columbia won the oratory contest. Richard C. Rohrberg '58 came in second out of eight contestants in oratory. The only other entrant from the College ranking close to the top was James L. Kineaid '53 who won second prize for speaking in the debate contest.

The winners received trophies from the varsity debate council.
