Rinehart's Two Last Period Goals Hold Favored Wintergreens to Tie

Two third period goals and a last minute burst of speed enabled the Rineharts to hold the favored Wintergreens to a 3.2 tie that went into a 7 1/2 minute scoreless overtime period at Watson Rink yesterday afternoon.

Outplayed until the third period, the Rineharts exploded, as Tom Walsh of Kirkland scored at 4.55 on a pass from House-mate Walt Gannon. Later, with less than two minutes left in the game, Ed Carey of Leverett pushed the puck by Wintergreen goalie Paul Jameson of Adams in a mix-up in front of the goal to tie up the game.

Captain Pete Frye's Wintergreens dominated the ice in the first two periods, passing well on the offense and continually keeping Rinehart goalie Oscar Swenson of Dudley occupied. Frye netted the game's first goal on a pass from Patrick Conmy at 2:40 of the first period. The Rineharts countered at 12:25 of the first period when Leverett is Ed Hurley scored on a pass from Captain Paul Brennan of Dudley.

At 4:10 of the second period, Conmy scored on a set-up pass from Frye, to put the Wintergreens ahead. Frye's second goal at 12:40 of the third period, assisted by Louis Newell of Winthrop, seemed the clincher for the confident Wintergreens.

The overtime was marked with fast skating but fruitless play for both teams.
