Plans for renovating the Kirkland House courtyard "to give it color both in summer and winter," were announced yesterday by Charles H. Taylor, incoming Master.
As the first step, workmen will soon plant three threes to replace those that were wrecked in last September's hurricane, he said. The trees, two of which will bloom, will be spaced to break up the monotony of the radiating paths in the court. The job, which also includes planting new shrubs, will be completed this spring.
Work will also start on the walks in the court, which have been sinking into the ground for 30 years. They will be raised and moved away from the Hoouse walls to leave more room for bushes.
The renovation was originally planned by Mason Hammond, the present Master, and the House Committee several years ago.
