Radcliffe has received $654,000 in unrestricted funds from the residue of the estate of Edmond Dana Barbour (the late Boston merchant and philanthropist), President Wilbur K. Jordan announced yesterday.
President Jordan would not reveal any definite plans for the money, but said that the funds would probably be used "in general support of education."
Radcliffe's gifts from the Barbour estate now total $1,364,000, since it received a bequest of $711,000 when Barbour died in 1925. His daughter, Mrs. Mary Barbour Blair, life tenant for the estate, died in April, 1954.
Moors' Donation
Mr. Barbour's total contribution has been exceeded only by that of John Farwell Moors, who gave a total of $2,000,000 to the college during his lifetime and in his will. Mr. Moors' money was used to build Moors Hall.
