Secretary of Law School Resigns; Toepfer to Assume Duties Jan. 1

Harrison S. Dimmitt, for 20 years secretary of the Law School, and editor of the Law School Bulletin, has resigned both posts, effective Jan. 1.

Dean Erwin N. Griswold announced that Louis A. Toepfer will succeed Dimmitt in the Secretary post, and Russell Peck will assume the alumni magazine duties.

Toepfer at present is Assistant Dean and Director of Law Admissions, and Peck is Assistant Dean in charge of the Placement Office.

At the same time, Griswold announced the appointment of William L. Bruce '46, previously an associate of the Edwards & Angell firm in Providence, R.I., as an Assistant Dean, also beginning Jan. 1. Bruce will assist in alumni and fund-raising activities.

Dimmitt has served as Secretary of the School since 1936, after serving as Assistant Secretary for a year, and several years of private practice. He is 57, and a Princeton graduate.

Toepfer was appointed Director of Placement at the Law School in 1947, and a year later was promoted to his present position.
