The varsity basketball team is favored to win its second straight game tonight when it meets a tall but mediocre Northeastern five at the IAB at 8:30.
A freshman contest with the Husky pups will precede the varsity game at 6:45.
Six-foot-3 junior "Ike" Canty, a high scorer last year, will start at a forward in the only varsity lineup change. Although he saw only limited action in the win over Amherst, Canty scored eight points.
Other starters for the varsity will be Bob Hastings and Bob Barnett at the guards, Dick Hurley at forward, and Bob Bowman, whom Wilson called "my most pleasant surprise in the Amherst game," at center.
Huskies Talier
The Huskies, with three men 6-foot-4 or taller, will have a big height advantage. In their only game this year, however, they lost, 69 to 45, to an average University of Massachusetts team.
At center for Northeastern will be 6-foot-5 Captain Dick Brooks. The Huskies will have two 6-foot-4 forwards in Bill Colby and Bill Kearns, and at the guards Coach Joe Zabilski will start 6-foot-1 Al Coleman and 5-foot-11 George O'Rourke. O'Rourke and Colby are considered the two top players on the team.
Commenting on the Amherst game, Wilson said that the varsity's main fault was "throwing the ball away too much."
Wilson said he was "very pleased" with the team's comeback from a ten-point halftime deficit. "You can't count on doing that every game, though," he added.
