Debate Council Wins Tufts' Invitation Meet With Perfect Record

Eleven straight victories pushed the Debate Council to the top of the 21 team Tufts Invitational Tournament this weekend.

The Council boasted the only undefeated record in the ninth annual meet. The debate question was: "Resolved, That the non-agricultural industries of the United States should guarantee their employees an annual wage." Arguing for the affirmative were David P. Bryden '57, who won the prize for the best affirmative speaker, and Robert M. O'Neil '56, and for the negative, Robert H. King '57 and Robert W. Scrivner '57.

The two College teams each defeated five other colleges. Middlebury, with an 8-2 record finished second and was chosen to meet the Council in the finals. They elected to argue the negative against the same Council team which had already beaten Dartmouth, last year's winner, Princeton, Brooklyn College, Brandeis, and Emerson.
