'59 Squad Ties Yale In Soccer Game, 2-2

NEW HAVEN, Nov. 18--The freshman soccer game went back and forth with the wind today, and despite two overtimes, ended a 2-2 tie. The Yardlings thus end the season with a 6-1-1 record.

Although the Crimson, with the wind at its backs, dominated the first period, the first goal was scored by Yale captain Jim Sampliner, who dribbled 60 yards for the tally.

The Yardlings countered with a sustained drive, which ended as Roger Tuckerman kneed the ball into the goal, to even the score.

The Crimson went on the defensive throughout the second half. Charles Kingsley scored for Yale early in the fourth period. Shortly after, the Yale goalie caught Barry Russman's high kick in his own goal to give the Yardlings their second score.
