The Free University of Berlin is offering two full scholarships to Harvard students, Dolmar Leighton '19, Dean of Students, announced last night.
In a letter to Leighton, the Secretary of the Foreign Relations Committee at the German University explained that the offer was prompted by similar awards made by Harvard over the last three years.
The Student Council first awarded a scholarship to a University of Berlin student in 1952. The next year six more German students, including one from Berlin, came to the U.S. Gunter Itischer, a Dunster sophomore, is the holder of the Council scholarship for 1954-55.
The Berlin awards may go to any Harvard student nominated by the University, although seniors usually get preference. The scholarship's recipient may work in any field, including graduate study.
