A seven goal explosion in the second period enabled the jayvee hockey team to rout the M.I.T. varsity, 12 to 3, in its opening game on the Watson rink last night.

Fred Pratt scored the first Crimson goal early in the first period, but lack of practice as a team and inaccurate shooting prevented the jayvee from scoring again until the second period. The seven-goal burst was interrupted only momentarily by the first M.I.T. goal midway through the period, making the score 3 to 1.

Pratt made the hat trick with three goals and one assist, and three other jayvees, Ralph Reckett, Tom Crowley, and Ted Hollander each scored twice. Crowley added three assists to give him five points for the night. Dave Holmes, Bill White, and Denny French also scored.

With more team practice the jayvees should be even more effective.
