The Crimson rugby team, favored to win the vacation tournament in Bermuda, succeeded in capturing only one of its two tournament games, 17 to 0, against a strong Combined Services team from the British Army Friday.
The victory followed a 3 to 0 defeat at the hands of Princeton Thursday in which the varsity fifteen was unable to score after dominating the play throughout the game. Princeton went on to tie Dartmouth for the College Championship, 0 to 0, Saturday, with two overtime periods.
Previous to its tournament contests, the Crimson lost an unofficial warmup scrimmage to the Eastern Canadian All-Stars from Toronto and Montreal, 16 to 0.
Larry Boise was outstanding for the varsity at left wing, scoring twice on 50-yard runs against the Combined Services team. Also scoring from the scrum were Bob Richter, John Nichols, and Joe Conzelman. Woodie Simpson connected on only one out of five conversions.
