Thirty-five Air Science seniors will ask the Student Council for backing in their fight to obtain promised commissions.
George S. Abrams '54, spokesman for the cadets, said last night that he will ask the Council Monday "to go on record as supporting our attempts to get the commissions that the Air Force contracted to give us."
Abrams said he and four other AFROTC seniors would use the Council's statement during vacation when they go to Washington to appeal directly to Air Force officials.
The other seniors planning to make the Washington trip are David U. Warren, Robert O. Jordan, James V. Cammisa, and Howard J. Shurdut.
John W. Stokes '54, member of the Student Council, will meet with Abrams today to draw up a resolution for presentation to the Council Monday.
The cadets meanwhile plan to meet again next week with University officials in the hope of affecting Air Force policy through that channel.
Little University Help Seen
They have already conferred once with Dean Leighton about the matter, but according to Abrams, "the indications are that the University will not do much to help us."
Another part of the group's campaign, letters to Congressmen, will go out this weekend to all United States Senators and Representatives. The letters state that the Air Force would violate its agreement with the cadets by not issuing them commissions, and they thus ask the Congressmen for any help they can give.
AFROTC students at Tufts and B.U. who are in the same plight as the College cadets, have volunteered to also make the trip to Washington.
