Big Bob Canty broke the freshman rebounding record last night as he led the undefeated Yardlings to their 13th straight win, a 67 to 51 victory over the Brown freshmen, at the I.A.B.
With 31 rebounds, Canty cracked Dick Manning's mark of 30 set in 1952. Canty also had 17 points to retain his team leadership in scoring.
The Crimson split the game wide open with a 28 point splurge in the second period, giving it a 41-23 halftime lead. In that period Bob Dolven, who was high scorer in the game with 21 points, and nine, and Canty had 12.
The Yardlings were ahead after every period. They led at the end of the first period 13-10, and at the third, 53-33.
The freshmen have three games remaining on their schedule. With Tufts, Boston College, and Yale.
