Bill Meigs, captain-elect, and Bob Cochran, recipient of the Crocker Award, were yesterday chosen to the 1954 United Press All-New England football team.

Meigs, at guard, was also given a starting position on the Associated Press All-Ivy League team announced earlier, and Cochran, and end, was an honorable mention choice on the same squad.

In addition, four College players received honorable mention on the UP squad. Tim Anderson, 1954 captain, and Orville Tice were chosen from the line, and two sophomores, Jim Jeslin and Matt Botsford, were selected as backs. Anderson had previously been placed on the All-Ivy League second team, while both Tice and Botsford were Ivy honorable mention selections.

Along with the Crimson, Holy Cross and Boston University each placed two men on the All-New England first string, while Yale had only one. Boston College, Brown, Vermont, and Brandels were the other schools represented among the first string selections.

The first team was: ends, Bob Cochran (Harvard) and Bill MCKenna (Brandeis); tackles, Frank Morze (Boston College) and Phil Tarascovic (Yale); guards, Jim Buonopane (Holy Cross) and Bill Meigs (Harvard); center, Mike Reilly (Brown); backs, Tom Gastall (Boston University), Lou Hettinger (Holy Cross), Eddie Beck (Vermont), and Sam Pino (Boston University).

Ivy League squads had four men on the second string, Brown having two players, and Yale and Dartmouth one each.
