The standing room only sign will go out today at 60 Boylston St. for the less than 500 places along the top of the Stadium, Frank O. Lunden, Athletic Association ticket manager, said last night.
For undergraduates who failed to file applications on time, standing room may be all they can get. Contrary to earlier estimates, Lunden said last night that late applicants would be unable to pick up their "free seats this week.
Rough Spot
"Those that did not file time are in a rough spot," he said. "We've got alumni money that's been sitting around here for two months. In the face of a sell-out, we can't keep a group of seats out in case undergraduates come in later in the week."
Lunden and his enlarged eight-man staff worked all day Sunday processing alumni requests from the New York area. He reported only seats along the lower track rows and the back of the Colonnades for the recent alumni classes.
"A lot can happen between now and Saturday," the Ticket Manager stated. He asked that disappointed applicants and graduate students keep checking with the ticket office later in the week in case Yale returns part of its block of 14,900 seats.
The prospect appeared slim last night.
Yale, which is still processing its seats, has reported much less demand among its undergraduates and alumni for tickets than Harvard. But the Yale ticket office has said it is "very doubtful" about returning any of its allotment.
