Pusey Names Bundy to Head Faculty Advisory Committee

President Pusey yesterday announced the restating of the standing faculty advisory committee, formed last February to act as a liaison between the faculty and the Corporation during the Congressional investigations last spring.

The committee, composed of six members of the faculty, is the same as it was last year with the exception of two changes. Dean Bundy has been appointed to replace Provost Buck as head of the committee, and E. Bright Wilson '36, Theodore Williams Richards Professor of Chemistry, replaces Edward M. Purcell '38, Professor of Physics, now in Europe.

Other members of the committee are Dean Edward S. Mason, Dean Erwin N. Grisweld, Ralph J. Baker, Weld Professor of Law, and Mason Hammond '25, Pope Professor of Latin Language and Literature.

The Corporation formed the committee so it might have a basis for deciding its course of action in case professors of the University refused to testify before Congressional investigating committees and are consequently cited for contempt of Congress. The committee informs the Corporation of faculty opinion and sentiment toward the probes.

Each man on the committee will continue to sound out opinions on the faculty. Periodic meetings will be held to formulate reports to the Corporation.

Bundy indicated yesterday that the restating of the committee was a matter of course and was in no way affected by any recent developments. He said that the purpose of the reactivation was so that the committee might be on hand in the event of possible trouble and that at present it had no impending business.
