Freshman physical training, a program of three hours per week of athletics and exercise, starts today. The freshman has his choice of 12 fall activities, including crew, tennis, track, and classes in basketball and swimming. Cross country, football, and soccer also receive physical training credit.
Beginning also are the physical efficiency tests, made up of the Step Test and posture photographs of each freshman. Students failing to pass these tests will be required to take special exercise training during the winter.
Norman W. Fradd, director of physical training, has emphasized that the exercise must be taken on three different days. Though one credit will be given for ROTC drill, additional exercise on the same day cannot be counted. Fradd recently spoke at a physical training orientation meeting along with Thomas D. Bolles, Director of Athletics, who presented the coaching staff to freshmen. Arlie V. Bock, professor of Hygiene, described College medical facilities.
