Discouraging sales of tickets for the Senior Week events have led members of the Class Day Committee to predict a possible initial deficit in the Class of 1953 treasury, it was learned last night.
Possible junking of the present election system in favor of appointment of the Committee in the future may also come up for formal consideration, it was learned at the same time.
Rumors that the three evening events for which tickets are being sold might be called off because of poor sales were squelched by Committee President Daniel J. O'Connor '53 last night.
"We've made so many commitments--down payments on contracts and such--that we can't call the thing off now. It's on, come hell or high water," O'Connor said. He also denied any knowledge of possible changes in the method of choosing future committees.
About one third of the number of tickets necessary to cover the cost of the entertainments had been sold yesterday, but O'Connor and other members of the Committee expressed hopes of a last-minute buying rush.
"They hadn't sold many more tickets than this at the same time last year," commented O'Connor. Last year's graduation took place a week later, however.
