'56 Jubilee Bigins

A crowd of 275 freshmen and their dates, the maximum allowed by fire laws, filled the Eliot House dining hall last night for the first dance of the '56 Jubilee Weekend.

Bob Mulcahy and his orchestra, aided by vocalist Marllyn Tate, provided music in the hall decorated with dim red lights and red and black streamers. The decorations represented the fires of "deepest purgatory" of Paradise Lose, the theme of this first of the two dances in the freshmen's biggest weekend.

Tonight the '56ers hold their formal dance at the Union. Two orchestras will provide continuous music for the major affair of the Jubilee.
