Army Wrestlers Beat Varsity 24-8 at I.A.B.; Lee, Adams Win Bouts

Army's veteran wrestling team invaded Cambridge Saturday and smashed the hopes of Coach Bob Pickett's varsity wrestlers for regional ranking, as it handed the Crimson a decisive 24-8 defeat at the I.A.B.

Bright spot for the Crimson was the fine pin victory turned in by Captain Johnny Lee at 130 over the Cadets' Clark Ben, after Army Captain Bob Karns had pinned Al Muggia in the opener at 123 pounds. Cadet Pete Fikaris sent West Point ahead with a close decision victory over Frank Dewar in the 137-pound match. Bud Adams put the home team back into the meet, tying it up 8-8 by decisioning Jim Karns, brother of the Army captain.

Cadets Forge Ahead

The Army took the lead for good as Dale Ward pinned Len Miller at 157. In the next mach Army's Ted Den decisioned veteran Chick Chandler, the Crimson's 167-pounder. Ken Culbert gave ex-Cadet football captain Al Paulikas a fine contest until he was pinned by the Eastern College 177-pound champion. George Lodge won the last match of the day over Crimson heavy George Bates.
