Dunster secured its lead in A League basketball yesterday afternoon when it whipped basement-dwelling Dudley, 61 to 37. It was Dunster's second consecutive A League win; the Funsters topped Adams, 46 to 44, on Wednesday. High scorer in both games was Wells Whitney, who racked up 17 points against the Gold Coasters and 13 against the Commuters.
Second place Winthrop held on to its position by beating Adams, 39 to 33, yesterday. Kirkland's bid for the second slot was frustrated when they succumbed. 41 to 31, to a second half Lowell surge.
In the B League, Eliot, Kirkland, and Winthrop hold the first three places. The next A League games on Monday will see Leverett meeting Dudley, and Kirkland facing Adams. In the B loop only Kirkland and Adams will clash.
Skaters Seek ice
The quest for ice goes on as the House hockey teams near mid-season. Intramural Sports Director Adolph Samborski'25 expects to have the final word on skating possibilities by Tuesday. If the ice is available, contests will continue as scheduled at the Boston Skating Club. Otherwise, the last seven games on the second half schedule will probably be cut, and the rest rescheduled.
Meanwhile the Eliot sextet maintains a firm hold on first place with a 6 and 0 winning record. The Elephants shut out Adams, 5 to 0, yesterday. Kirkland occupies the second spot with 5 and 1, far ahead of third place Winthrop and Dunster, whose records stand at 3 and 2.
Upcoming are contests between Lowell and Dunster on Friday, and Leverett and Kirkland on Monday. The record favors Dunster and Kirkland in these matches.
Meanwhile, swimmers from all the Houses are working out daily at the Blockhouse in preparation for their first meets on Thursday.
