Charlie ufford yesterday polished off the man who will probably be his final competitor in the all-University squash tournament.
Hugh Nawn '51 second man on the Crimson's national championship team two years ago, now studying at the Business School and playing in the first position for the Harvard Club in the Metropolitan A League, lost his match with Ufford, 3 to 1, as his team dropped its second match of the season to the varsity, 3 to 2.
Nawn, second seeded in the tournament, forced defending champion Ufford into extra points in the first two games before losing 16-13, 16-14. He proceeded to completely submerge Ufford 15-2 in the third game, but dropped the fourth 15-9.
In the second position, Dave Watts defeated veteran John Cornish, fifth ranking player in the state, by scores of 15-12, 15-6, 15-12.
Hadden Tomes clinched the match by winning 3 to 2 after dropping the first two games. His scores: 10-15, 12-15, 18-14, 15-11, 15-9.
The Varsity B team moved into a virtual tie for first place in their league by topping the University Club, 4 to 1.
First man Johnny Rauh went five games before bowing in the number one match. Bill Wister, Steve Sonnabend, Guy Paschal, and Mike Ward all turned in victories.
