Slichter Gets Position In Taft-Hartley Probe

Secretary of Labor Martin P. Durkin yesterday named Sumner H. Slichter, professor of Economics, to a committee of top public, labor, and industrial figures to help draft administration proposals for changing the Taft-Hartley law.

The 15-member advisory group will start work Monday in closed sessions with Durkin. Durkin stated he hopes that desired changes will be worked out without stirring up a battle between labor and industry such as occurred when the law was enacted in 1947.

Slichter said yesterday that he had "No comment" on the post.
