A new play by Robert H. Chapman, assistant professor of English, and Louis Cox, will be produced by the Harvard Theatre Groups late in April.
Chapman and Cox are the authors of "Billy Budd," recently produced on Broadway.
This is the first time the HTG has premiered a play. Chapman will act as general overseer and director with an eye to future Broadway production.
P. Michael Mabry '53 and Donald O. Stewart '53 will head the cast. Tryouts for the rest of the cast will be held Monday and Tuesday afternoon at P.B.H.
Negotiations for a theatre are still in progress. HTG hopes to be able to use the Battle; otherwise, the play will run in the Pi Eta Theatre.
Chapman is currently lecturing in jampacked English 160. Earlier in the week, Josh Logan of "South Pacific" made a guest lecture appearance.
