The Dean's Office yesterday revealed a change in rules which will allow underclassmen to leave Cambridge before the official Christmas vacation. Dean of Freshmen F. Skiddy von Stade '37 pointed out that the new College Regulations no longer automatically placed students who cut pre-vacation classes on probation.
"This is certainly not an invitation to leave early," von Stade said. "But disciplinary action will not necessarily be taken against the freshman or non-Dean's List sophomore who cuts his last class."
Von Stade continued, "it is for each student to judge whether he can rightfully afford to miss class. Any penalties involved in an unexcused absence from a quiz or hour exam are quite properly in the hands of the instructor concerned."
